How does BeReal work?
Compared to other social media platforms, BeReal is quite unique. The app allows users to post once per day, which differs from what happens on other social media. It all starts when users receive a notification. At that moment, users only have a couple of minutes to post a picture of themselves.
It asks users to create a post that, using mandatory simultaneous photos from both the front and rear cameras, provides a visual image of what they are doing at that particular moment. Users are unaware of the given timeframe beforehand receiving the notification, which fluctuates from day to day.
According to some sources, BeReal was developed to compete with Instagram while downplaying social media addiction and overuse.
There is some desire for new photo-sharing apps. among youngsters who are tired of Instagram’s continuous changes, it’s jamming in new features like Reels and Shopping, and its overly-polished creator content.
The app does not offer any photo editing features or filters. Marketing content from the company warned that the app “can be addictive” but also stated that “BeReal won’t make you famous.”
